alright here is the deal. my buddy has a 90 lx coupe (stock) and he had been letting it sit for a while cause he lost his license for a few months. he went to start it one day and nothing. he took it over to a friend of ours house and started to try to figure out the problem. couldnt figure it out. the is absolutely no spark. so we thought try and change the dizzy with a used one that was good. nothin. then we thoght check the grounds. nothing so he bought a Brand New dizzy the whole thing and still no spark. ive looked on here and havent found anything that is helpfull. if anyone knows what to look at please let me know. the engine cranks great. timing belt is good and everything. just no spark. also the only thing that i can think to include in this is that the little light on the ECU doesnt ever blink. like not even when you turn on the car. i dont know where to even start on this thing. if anyone can help let me know i've got $25 paypal to the person that helps fix it. thanks.

90-91's have internal ign. coil. check it.its located under the dizzy cap and has 2 wires to it, a ground and power. there known to go bad on these engines....both my 90and 91 had this happen a few times. and replace with new if ya can....for the part at the dealer its $140. autozones a little cheaper. but oems best.

Yes, being a 90, it would have an internal coil/ignitor, I'm almost certain it's the coil. Over the weekend, my friend 91accord4door's EJ civic had the coil go bad and he had the EXACT same symptoms that you had listed above. A bad coil would not give you spark dispite the new dizzy or other ignition components.Originally posted by shawn.haydendid his new dizzy come with the ignition module?
So, did this new dizzy come w/ the coil also?

yup...mine went becuase of continuous cranks without removing the ecu fuse...i burnt out my coil by cranking my engine many, many times when doing a compression test....i forgot to remove the ecu fuse, took me long enough to figure it out too...its happend to my cb7's before and its the same symptoms...it slipped my mind and we found out just in the nick of time.Originally posted by Granite CB7Yes, being a 90, it would have an internal coil/ignitor, I'm almost certain it's the coil. REALLY!!!! I'm surprised, maybe check over all the connections by the dizzy (that were unplugged, etc). From what you listed, it's almost always caused by a faulty coilOriginally posted by ataris2hey guys i appreciate all the replies but the coil/igniter was replaced when the dizzy was replaced. i'll check it to see if its good and ill get back to you guys. in the mean time any other suggestions would be great.

First, reset the ecu memory, by removing the two fuses under the box under the hood labeled "ecu" and "backup". Now wait fifteen minutes and replace them and try again!
Are you getting a cel? All the time? -or- not at all? Either could be ecu failure(usually the cel will be on all times!)
Try replacing the ecu! Mine runs now, after such a sharade, so it may be! also check the connections and conditions of the wires leading to the dizzy and such. Also check the plugs!
Good luck! WaC.

this sounds alot like caleb's issues.... cb7tuner name "clueless" used to be "92HondaEX" i believe... i'd suggest you getting in contact with him and perhaps you two can work to a solution. Since the ECU does NOT blink, I'd suggest swapping the ECU with a known good ecu. If still nothing, check power and grounds. Good luck.Last edited by accord91lx; 04-27-2006, 03:28 AM.
