    not my engine

ok today i was told my engine is gone, im not sure if it was b/c of my oil leak or what i had a bad oil leak coming from the rear main seal. I was leakin bout 1Q a week. I notice some noise from my engine when i got off work this morning, so i figured it need oil so when i woke up i went to wal mart bought three Q's oil check the stick and put the oil in. Everthing seem fine til i heard a knocking sound. So i was like let me go to my mech shop on the way it got louder and the car slowed down. He came i started it up and the noise was loud he said cut it off u need a new motor im like oh shit u cant just fix whats wrong with it? So he left and i had to get it towed or drive home, i drove home made noise the whole way but i made it. Now i dont no what to do, he said $300 to put in a new motor which is good but the price of the motor is the problem.

do u guys think i need a new motor of just something replace, ur info would be helpful

Sorry to hear such bad news man...

...Mr.Rodknock has come to your Accord...

I look at it this way:
It's an opportunity to give your Accord a new personality...JDM f22 DOHC or H22a are great choices...

Best of luck, let us know what you will be doing man...

Yep your rod is knocking. And if you wanted to just fix that problem your going to have to rebuild the bottom end which woould juust cost as much as a cheap motor. I say go w/ a new motor, find something cheap and have 'em put it in. Otherwise there will always be problems after that. Goodluck..

I say pretty much the same thing everyone else is saying. Swap. It's the perfect time. If you need to, sell some car parts again. Maybe it will have to be stuff that's on your car now but mechanical comes before aesthetic. If you can find an F22 or an F20A on eBay for cheap enough, go with that. And maybe even try to attempt the swap yourself with the help of a friend or two. If you could get 3 friends to help for $100 a piece there's the cost of labor you would have spent right there. But with this method you learn how to do it yourself. Maybe you could go to a junkyard and buy a block. Spend a little extra and change the timing parts, water pump, front and main seals, hone out the pistons and put in new rings(not recommended if you intend on abusing this setup) and you haven't spent much right there...given that we're talking about parts store prices and not Honda dealer prices. All those parts including the hone would cost around $150. The price of the block jumps it a little more and you've saved a lot of money. Sorry if none of this helped.

Dude there are much better deals to be had than that. Keep looking around. I realize you need to get this fixed soon but it's not worth wasting a couple hundred bucks over. There are even people on here giving away their engines if you go to pick them up. Put an ad in the wanted section and wait a couple of days.
