Possible ways to get gas in oil? You answered your own question. When you flood your engine that is what happens. Fuel keeps getting delivered to the combustion chamber via injector, but no combustion possibly(cause of fault in ignition system) results in fuel collecting ,then bypassing piston/piston rings down into crankcase. I'm going to assume that you have no cel? Because if you do then you should probably start there. Tell you what. If it wont start after..... say 6... cranks, it probably wont start so why continue cranking?

Reasons for not starting are plenty. Sounds like you are getting fuel, but I'd troubleshoot the system anyway. Then ignition system/timing. The usual. wires, plugs, dizzy, coil, bla, bla, bla Take the dizzy cap off and have a buddy crank your car while u watch the rotor button. Jumping time is possible/ might have slack in your t-belt or damaged cogs. Need more specific into if you can. Eliminate the ignition system then come back and let us know where u are. Once/if you figure out your problem get some gumout engine flush, oil, and two filters. drain your oil, replace with engine flush, put new filter on, run flush for ten minutes, drain flush, remove filter, add oil

i'd almost venture to say if you went threw 2 gallons then your injectors are not turning off.

          What is the likelyhood?

yup, sounds like ignition problems. Drain the oil and put some gas-free oil in there. DON'T keep trying to start it if it doesn't start up after a few cranks. Fix the problem first.
