    Random shut down

Here's the problem that has officially boggled all of the automotive program for the past week, 91 accord ex drives fine, engine will randomly shut down but start right back up, fuel pump operating perfectly, spark is performing just as it should, combustion is great, and the air is there. All test were performed to all systems on the car while cold, while warmed up and while under loads. Nothing is showing to be operating incorrectly. I'm at a lose and tired of the engine dying, anyone experience any symptoms similar to this?

I had one do the exact same thing a few months back and it turned out to be the ground at the rear water jacket. It would drive fine and then randomly cut out. Sometimes it would drive fine for 5 minutes before cutting out and ther times it would drive for days without any issues. Turns out, the ground bolt was just loose.

Yeah, distrib checked out, coil was good, ignitor good, crank/cam sensor good, cap rotor good, wires good, plugs good, all my grounds are tight I even cleaned them all just to be certain, fuel pump is new bout months ago but tested it for power to and fuel pressure, drove with a fuel :edit: pressure :edit:gauge, everything on this car is testing perfectly fine. It's blowing my mind it really is. the pcm is getting and sending signals properly so the ecu isn't toast, I simply don't know where to go from this point.

Did you end up checking the alternator? Also what about the ignition switch, I've seen a few cars have that kind of problem because of the switch being worn out...and have just enough weight from your key ring when you go over a bump to shut er down.

Both options would kill electrical, I"m not loosing electrical just the engine dying.

So it seems that your spark is good, and you have enough air going in..are the fuel injectors cutting out?

All injectors are showing a steady reference signal. I'm more and more lost on this

Id recheck your ignition switch. Thats what it sounds like if everything is operating fine. Someone already mentioned that above if i remember. My boys TL was doing the same thing and everything checked out. Then took a look at his ignition switch and it was messed up plus there was a tsb out on those. So I would give that a good look over.

Nah damn that check your distributor you said 91. That sht is the culprit for 90-91 the distributor is plaged with ass problems. Swap it out and exchange it for a remanufactured one. I know this from experience The distributor altogether will drive for a minute then boggle down like your not even steppin on the gas after you let off the gas and decide to go the car will shut off or stay started then when you drive it again it will slow down because it wont get any spark. Its that damn distributor just change it.

Distrib has been changed with all new internals, cam/crank sensor, coil, ignitor, cap, rotor. Problem is still here. Tearing apart the ignitor switch today along with check the map sensor, will let all know how it goes.

Ignition switch has tested properly with continuity where it should be. Map sensor is smooth and holds vacuum. Day 6 of diagnosis......

This is the pure joy of diagnosing an intermittant problem.
