wow i hear people having all this trouble with the axle nut and mine always came off easy with a pipe extension on both of my cbs. klevis - get some PB Blaster, its so much better than pos wd-40. do you have your wheel on? i found it the easiest to remove it when you got the wheel on (yes the socket will fit) and get a long pipe as a breaker bar and stand on it, dont jump bc that will break you another breaker bar, just apply steady pressure. i think the last thing you can try is heating it. good luck man

Craftsman Breaker Bar is all you need. Break it and return it.

I need to change my axle, I was planning to do it Tuesday next week. Should I start blasting it with wd-40 now lol. If you are really having trouble then just take a blow torch to it. Most likely you'll need to get a new spindle nut, you shouldn't re-use your old one if you fuck it up too much.

with the wheel still bolted on and on the ground, unstake it, soak it in PB Blaster (from autozone), put an 18" craftsman breaker bar with a 36mm socket on it so the bar is horizontal, and give it the hardest downward kick you can manage. use an extension pipe if necessary... but dont slowly pull, thatll just stretch and break the breaker bar. give it hard, sharp, impact hits.

What I do is use the pipe and stand on the pipe. Then put ur hands on the fender and make one jump up and down and the pipe. You will hear a crack and from then on u just turn the nut out.

If you are having trouble with the socket slipping off the nut when you try to jump on it, bang a little notch of metal on the nut out with a screwdriver and hammer so it has a little edge that sticks up, then hammer the socket onto the nut.

Last time I replaced my axles we ended up breaking two breaker bars. Finally we were able to get em off with an air gun, it still ended up taking 5 minutes of on and off ratcheting with the gun to get it loose (small air compressors suck lol). Got any friends with a big air compressor you could use?

the shops around here charge $350 for that kind of job
the only thing that can losen that thing up its an air gun. tomorrow i will call all my dads friends and see if they can do anything with hand tools. if not then i guess i have to take it to a shop and give them $20 or more just to losen up the fucking bolt then drive back and do all the work. i am starting to hate this car.

Your best bet is to make sure the wheels are on the ground then make sure the nut is unstaked. Then have the wheel turned the wheel to the right if your takin the nut off on the drivers side and the wheel turned to the left if your takin off the right wheel. Make sure with the breaker bar though that you use 1 end of a 2 ton jack pipe used to jack up the car and get down on it just brace yourself so that you dont get chin-checked by the car.
