Yeah any check engine lights ? is your oil at level before you drive,do you have enough coolant,do you wait for the car to warm up before you drive off? If you got a p13 it had better be stock and not some shit from ebay or chipped whatsoever to really diagnose the problem.

unlikely to be knock sensor since it is disabled before vtec engages due to the loud noises of vtec activation setting it off.

can you hear vtec activating and just not power or is vtec not activating at all?

I wouldnt doubt that Id still give it a check its not hard. So you say it feels fine before engagement but when it engages it bogs. Check oil levels too.

Check your connections and make sure your timing is on point

I had this problem before and it turn out to be the knock sensor. Anyway, have you jump the service connector and come up with any code at all???

my stock p13 ecu acted goofy as shit for a while... try and get a p28 chipped for you. standard fuelmap's ect. should run you around 180 it's also better ground's for tuning later on.

Ahaha, ya.... after all any "knock" (i.e. timing correctable issues) would require that the sensor is working properly. Time to jump that service connector for sure.
