    Ongoing Clutch Problems

Ok this is going to be fairly lengthy. Any help would be appreciated.

    Background:
Bought my 92 CB accord last year around April. It had already had a h22a swapped in and an auto to manual swap done. When I bought it, it was making a squeal noise, sounded like tyres spinning, whenever I engaged the clutch. Mostly when taking off. But also 1st to 2nd sometimes.

Got the clutch and flywheel changed about sept last year after a mechanic saying the noise was probably a dead clutch. Also it started slipping after a while. The mechanic that changed it for me said the clutch was actually in ok condition however the flywheel was cracked.

Anyway. The noise stopped after this and everything seemed ok. However. Ever since I bought the car the clutch seems to engage a long way out on the pedal travel. With the old clutch and the new one.

    Currently:
Clutch has now done just under 25000k's. Lately it has been feeling like crap. Feels like it is engaging at the very last second. I bled the fluid a couple of weeks ago. This seemed to help a bit. But it still seems like there is an underlying problem. This was highlighted when I drove a friends civic last night with a hd exedy. Mine is supposed to be a HD Clutch Specialties but when I got back in mine it felt like slush.

Could it be possible that the slave/master cylinder ratio's are wrong or something? And therefore isn't allowing the pressure plate full range of movement? Could the clutch be dieing already?

I bought the car knowing it was going to be a project. But when you don't know what's wrong in order to fix it. It is just frustrating. I would really appreciate any suggestions. Next stop when I get some money is a clutch specialist.

    Thanks.

Adjust your pedal if its catching to high. Two bolts on the clutch pedal. Someone has a picture on here and it should help you quite a bit. Your clutch is just fine.

it sounds like Nail05 is right, sounds like it needs to be adjusted... you want to LOWER the engage point, so rotate the shaft opposite of the blue arrow:

I have actually played with that. So I guess it is getting full range of movement. Because I can feel in the pedal when it stops moving the pressure plate I think. It feels a little stiffer. It just feels like there's something wrong. I dunno. Thanks guys.

So would any of the H or F series cylinders/lines be interchangable? Just to put my mind at ease.

sorry but thats just adjusting the predal play and not engaging point. ive already done that and felt no improvement other than reducing the amount of play within the clutch pedal

theres no other effective way of adjusting it... ive found that it gives a pretty wide range of adjustment, from making the clutch be disengaged even if youre not pressing the pedal, to making it so the clutch is still engaged even with the pedal all the way down...
