Ok so my 91 Accord has me about to my limits. No matter what I do, it will still overheat. I recently changed: a leaky hose, thermostat, front temp switch, the coolant. When I put new coolant in, the problem will go away for a little bit of driving, but sure enough it will still overheat. One night I drove on it for 2 hours and it didn't even get hot. The fans are working, but I'm not sure how to see if my water pump's bad. I figured if it were bad, it'd be leaking, but I'm not seeing any leaks, and i'm not losing any coolant... so I'm stumped. I'm thinking about dumping something in the radiator to break down a potential clog in the radiator. Pllllllease... any suggestions?

i had the same exact problem did everything you did too, i changed the radiator and the problem went away

now it aint the water pump because mine recently gave out and i just had it replaced when the water pump gives out its leaks heavily so what it could be is maybe the sensor or you might have a clog somewhere have you checked that long hose that runs from the thermostat to the radiator?? if after you drive it and that hose isnt hot that means the clog could be around there cause you already replaced the thermostat

1)Radiator
2)Coolant temps sensors(there are 2, 1 for the gauges, 1 for the engine)
Those are my 2 options. I had the rad changed, still overheats. Turns out i need a new temp sensor, but my WP's leaking too, so i hafta fic that first, then the sensor. Good luck finding it. If its not any of those, let us know, cuz i may need it done as well.

Well I changed the coolant temperature sensor just a little while ago, and it still got hot, but not really TOO hot. It never got past half way, and it ALWAYS dropped back to normal operating temperature after a minute or 2. The fans are working, and the temp switch in the front is NEW. Can anyone tell me what the rear temp switch is for?

Update: so I just flushed it out again after I ran some cleaner through it. But, when I filled it up, I tried to bleed the coolant, and nothing came out. The radiator was full and everything. I even ran the car for 15 minutes to get it warmed up and the thermo open. It didn't get hot at that point. So I let it cool down, added more water, and water still doesn't come out. What does that mean?

on the prelude and accord they have 2 temperature fan switch....1 on the back of the block and the other on on the radiator....one on the back of block is main switch....the one on radiator is the one that when u have ur car parked and the motor is still hot = that one keeps the fan on even though ur key is out of the ignition.....but in order for that one to work, the one in the back has to get hot enough to switch on to make the front one to switch on too! hope that help!Originally posted by wrichards2005Well I changed the coolant temperature sensor just a little while ago, and it still got hot, but not really TOO hot. As for the motor over heating, make sure u dont get coolant leaking into ur cylinder....water dont compress so it makes the compression a bit higher and makes more heat so u get a bit of over heat.....also, make sure ur coolant is not leakin into the motor oil.....somtimes a bad headgasket seal can cause over heatin......turn ur motor on and take off the radiator cap when its hot, and see if u got massive bubbles coming out, u could be getting compression leaking into the cooling system = meaning its cooking up ur coolant and making it hot.....if non of those, then u just got one of them motor that has an overheatin problem and is a basically toss away motor!!
