weird A/C problem

I like never use my A/C so it's always off and the other day when i went to start my car my A/C came on full blast even tho it was in the off position, tried to fool with it to turn if off but nothin worked. Weird thing is that later that day when i started my car again I didn't get the problem. It made me think something with the weather/heat had to do with causing something to stick.

So the knob for the fan was off, yet the a/c went on... that sounds like it could be the switch to me. I doubt its the heat I live in AZ and I have a black car... I've yet to have any problem like that.
