    Arrrgggghhh It Still Surges...

OK, I just changed my TB again today and cleared all CEL codes...but my car is still surging at low RPMs! These are the symptoms...

-When I first start the car it revs to like 2.5K and takes long to settle.
-When I get the car moving it surges a bit
-If I'm coasting under 1500RPM and I touch the gas, the car surges to 1500RPM and will not stop till it reaches there...then it goes back to idle

I had this problem before when I did my mounts, as I had to remove the TB...I plugged a vacuum line that was loose and it behaved funny, so I unplugged it and it went back to normal. Problem is, after doing my H23 plenum swap, I can't remember which line it was...all I remember is that it runs left to right from around the MAP sensor, and it doesn't connect to anything in my car. I'm flipping out trying to figure out what it is...if anyone with an F22A6 can post a pic of their vacuum lines I'd really appreciate it.

Once I swapped my h23 IM I had idles issues as well. As stupid as it sounds, even small vacuum ports are critical to maintaining proper idle. Make sure the IM is put on properly(gaskets are squished just right) as well as the throttle body. Make sure all vacuum ports on the IM are eaither capped or have a line running to them(cruise control, FPR, PCV,...). Also, check your fast idle valve. This might be your problem right here. Open the fast idle valve and tighten the white plastic plunger inside. This is what stopped my idle surge(thanks craig). You should also adjust the idle with the idle screw located on TB for finer adjustments.

*Busted radiator cap can also affect idle FYI

As for the vacuum line that is loose, only thing I could think of is the air boost valve line which you don't even need to connect. You could in fact block off the ABV on the IM with a block off plate or use a peice of foam to cover the ABV.

    ...adjust accordingly

Well since you said you took off the TB you adjust your idle properly? My car would do that sometimes it would idle up then go back to idle after I pulled the accel pedal back a lil. I had my throttle cable a bit tight loosened it and fixed the problem. Dunno if you adjusted yours right but could be a possibility.

I think it might be the FIV. Is that the one that connects under the TB? That whole little module? I heard that was bypassable...how would I go about doing that?

I'd still like a pic of someone's vacuum setup. I think the ABV was the one that was loose. What vacuum line number is that? I capped that line off when I had the A6 setup and my car was behaving how it is now.

Also, now my car does the reeeeev let off reeeeeeeev let off thing too. This sucks donkey balls!!!

FIV(Fast Idle valve) is located underneath the throttle body on the h23 intake manifold. I don't recommend bypassing this device however. It's only purpose is to help your idle. Just remove the TB and unscrew the top plate on the FIV. Tighten the plunger and voila you're done with that. The ABV(Air boost valve) can be blocked off without much significance. Its the little device on the front of the IM that is attached by 2 bolts. The OEM vacuum setup is from the ABV to the intake pipe. It has a nipple at the end of the vacuum line that is inserted into the actual intake pipe.

          ...adjust accordingly

I could take more if you want. Find a vacuum diagram too.

                Thanks!

I think I need to change the gaskets...the problem got worse when I changed the TB Friday night. I'm guessing the seals between the plenum/runnners and TB/plenum are gone. When the car is cold it idles at 2K.
