    Crank with no start

so the other day I'm sitting in park with car running, just installed CD player. Then to check memory I cut off engine and attempt to restart, About the normal three whips and it fires then dies quickly. Tried to restart just cranks. Then I run to town and back about 1 hour later I'm gonna start looking for the problem (fuel, spark, ect). So I crank it fires right up. And has ever since. I've tried to recreate and seem to have no problem. But if anybody has any ideas or silamar experinces maybe it would help narrow it down.

I think is probably the Main Relay under the dash is starting to go out. was it kind of hot that day? anyways do a search under main relay and see if that help.

^^^ dont really works bro. main relays are fine.

it took a while to figure out, but michalob and me found out its a chip inside the distributor cap. its looks like this:

usually if i get stuck like that, cus i didnt change me chip yet, i pull off my 1cylinder spark plug and put it to a ground. then it fires up. good luck.

As mentioned main relay. That sounds more like the symptom you describing. You can resolder the inside if your tight on money. Thats how we did it on my car so yea and hasnt given me a problem since.

The symptoms you describe points to a bad main relay. It is intermittant until it gets impossibly faulty.
