    Internaly Balanced Stock H22

Hey I was wondering if the stock H22's are internaly balanced?
I know they have balance shafts and people take those off to balance a crank.
Because my cheap little pulley wobbles and I wonder if its
    A. off balanced
    B. because the pulleys dont match up because im using the stock a/c and ps pump.
    C. if it even matter because the pulley only weighs 1.5 lbs(but that still can be enough)

I just dont wanna blow my oil pump, thanks guys

Did you line it up properly with the keyway? Or did you put the keyway in properly before throwing on the pulley?

honda crankshaft pulleys dont wobble, there made of a certain of aluminum metal that either cracks or shatter, or break, so if it wobbles, check your installation.

Or it could be that the teeth are wearing out inside. I noticed that when my car started making odd noises. Next thing I know my car shuts off on me and I did see my pulley wobbling before. I pulled the whole thing out with one hand with no tools required lol.

Nah its an after market aluminum one.

And Im pretty sure I put it in right, I've been through 2 of them and each time I had to make the keyway bigger to fit the actualy pulley.

Every Honda engine is internally balanced. Some have full counterweights, some don't, but the H22 does.

The balance shafts have nothing to do with internal balancing, they simply counter a vibration that is inherent to ALL 4 cylinders, no matter how finely balanced they are.

I have seen some very messed up Honda blocks, but with the strength of the bearing girdle, I have never seen a crank so much as wobble a smidge.

It is most likely your pulley. They tend to not be as good as OEM stuff, and the machining is often not as precise (precision costs money).

I hope you did not modify the key way on your crankshaft...always modify or change aftermarket parts first, as they are typically the culprit.

If you did modify the nose of the crank, and you then get a pulley that is correct, you will have to most likely replace the crank to do it right.

Also, make sure the pulley bolt is fully tightented. The crank pulley bolt is so tight, that nothing should be wobbling unless the pulley is out of round.

If it is an accessory pulley, you might want to consider thread lock. I had terrible issues with my AEM pulleys, that weren't solved until I thread locked it.

              Cool

No I didnt modify the Crank pin, its the same one, I just shaved down the aluminum pulley for it to fit, and it is on tight I used air tools and torqed it.
I'm thinking it is the pulley from what Ive heard in the past is that unbalanced ones can blow oil pumps. But if the engine is balanced on the inside I think it will be okay because the vibrations will be on the out side, plus its so light and all dont think its a big problem, but I dont know.

can you make the pulley wobble if you touch it? cause i had an underdrive lightweight aluminum pulley on my h22 and it wobbled and wouldnt stay on...it was made by unortodox racing, dont really know if that matters...it kept coming even if i torqued it down with an impact wrench...i would suggest using some sort of thread lock or sealer...and make sure you torque it down to 159 ft-lbs. i finally just bought an oem one and it hasnt given me any problems...plus i didnt feel any sort of power loss going from lightweight to oem size...

Does anyone else have this problem or have even noticed it?
