    Lets Get a Thinktank

Alright folks. Here's one you probably haven't heard. Lets say we've got an individaul *myself* with a 93 Accord. Lets say he wants to make the most efficient Accord ever, to take him well into the 22nd century. What should he do to drastically improve the gas mileage?

I'm drop dead serious about this. I'm currently looking to get my hands on HEV (Hybrid-Electric) motor.

I'm no fool either. Lets lay down some serious ideas.

The given of the whole project is loss of power. But you can't have both power and efficiency...sadly enough. But yes, I'm looking to get high efficiency numbers.

I think the idea would be to wait for Honda to release some more HEV's, like an HEV Accord, and snatch up one of those motors. I mean, it wouldn't be easy in any sense.

As long as it has A-to-B power, I'll be happy.

Frankly, it would be more cost effective to convert your car to use CNG or Hydrogen than to attempt to adapt a highly specialized technology to your car. If it was a Civic or Integra, I'd say just use the Insight or Civic Hybrid drivetrain. But being an Accord, it would be severely underpowered.

torque....you'd need some torquey electrical motors integrated to some gearbox to multiply the torque....something like that...or make ur Accord go on a big diet.

Hmm...Hyrdogen. I think I'll go research that. CNG is under-supplied....and not cost efficeint.

Get a tow strap and hook it to a Greyhound bus. Unless you have more money then sense you will never come close to what's already being done.

It sort of depends... If he went the electric route (think FCX), rather than the hybrid, the Independent motors at each wheel could put out LOADS of torque. The FCX (tiny ass little car) puts out 200+ Ft/Lbs. of torque. That's more than ANY stock H22 setup... You could easily house motors big enough to do that in an Accord. And you would get All wheel drive out of it too.

The only problem with the FCX was that it was HEAVY and slow as dirt. You need torque but you also need hp.

the next gen nsx is called the hsc. Its more than a concept car (to those of you that know of it) it should be out in 2005. Its a gas electric hybrid that puts out 300 hp

Well, it is about 3700Lbs, but so are 4G Accords, with the engine and transmission. It would probably end up about the same, but you could probably sacrifice a little torque for more power too...

Uhm, 4th gens aren't 3700 lbs. I would guess an average 4th gen would be close to 3050 or so.
