    crankshaft stickin out?

After lots of noise and loosing 1st and 2nd gear i decided to replace my tranny. after taking the tranny off i noticed that the flywheel was rubbing the inside of the tranny around the starter hole. now when i go to put my new flywheel on it doesnt seem like it goes far enough back towards the block. (the timing mark doesnt even line up ). The end of the crankshaft where the flywheel bolts up to is sticking out about 1/4 of an inch but i checked for endplay and everything is fine. I gotta fix this before i put my new tranny in (h22a LSD tranny ) so the same problem doesnt come back up again.

are you sure there is no end play?take a big ass prybar and pry it against the crank pulley and the block back and forth.

Are there any indications on the old flywheel taht it was rubbin on the housing?

my guess would be that there is extensive crank end play.thrust bearing shit the bed most likely

did you ever had a problem w teh car not coming out of gear?

no it has always came out of gear. it started to make a rubbing noise a week ago and i figured it was my CV joint cuz i knew it was ripped. then i get in my car and the clutch is slipping like crazy out of no where and i cant get it into 1st 2nd or 5th. so i drove it home in 3rd and burnt the shit out of the clutch.
There are broken peices in the tranny case and a mark where the flywheel was grinding inside the case right beside the starter hole.
Ill go pry on it again and double check but can i change the thrust bearings from the bottom with the crank still in?

well no you have to remove the crank to get to the trhust bearing (there is only one).the prob is that it could have chewed up your crank.

You could be right. I never took apart an F22Ax but I went inside of an H22 and there were two. I thought the blocks were similar.
