    trunk leaks??

Well... whenever it rains, I go to pop my trunk and it's all wet inside. I don't see any holes, rust spots, dents, etc etc but the weatherstrip has some flat spots at the rear corners. Would this weatherstrip be worn out, or what? Is there any common place that leaks water in the trunk on these cars? (90 LX). I wanna put my subwoofers back there (lol) but I am not gonna until I'm sure they'll stay dry

    Thanks all

check for tiny cracks up by the rear window at the bottom corners of the window. Or just next time it rains go out and look for streams of water. Also check the tail light gaskets, they're a common source of leaks for our cars.

great, thanks man. I'll look into it. Just wondering if there is any common problem back there, and I'll check those.

Seems every problem i've found on this car and fixed, has been common, so there aren't too many random things.

Ummmm a TINY TINY TINY little bit on the pass side above rear of the wheel. I looked all over, and there is NOTHING I can see that would let water into the trunk... I

think tomorrow when the mechanic at work helps me power bleed the brakes, afterward I'm gonna lay in the trunk with a flashlight and have him spray water on the trunk and see if I can see exactly where it's comin in. I have a feeling the weatherstrip is fuggled.

          Hmmmm

lol I've worked there for a long time and this one technician that works there has helped me out a lot. I work there as a driver, he's done a bunch of work on my mustang and helped me do a lot of odds and ends projects that using a lift/air tools make go quicker.

I think mine is leaking at the tail lights... my dad is gonna hook me up with some clear RTV and i'll take the lenses out later this week sometime and seal up the edges

My trunk used to leak a lot when i first got my car. I discovered that the sealant around the antenna on the outside of the car was worn away, and water was getting in there. Also, the rubber gaskets around my tailights were also letting water in. I don't know why, but they were a little bit ripped.

So I used some black automotive silicon around the antenna and on the tail light gaskets.

ok, thanks. I'm gonna take the brake lights out sometime this week and inspect/reseal the edges and such. I'll also look at the antenna seal too. thanks guys for all the help. This forum is great!
