Cig Lighter

Hey my cig lighter has never worked. Is it easy to replace?

And on that note, do they make radar detectors that dont need to be plugged into lighter, and are hard wired? i know about wireless ones- are they expensive/ do they work well?

i got a cheap one from wal-mart, and hardwired it to my dash clock. Its a nice clean connection, all you see is the wire coming from the detector, to the clock. I wired it to the ignition wire of the clock, so it only comes on, obviously, when the ignition is on. Works great. You can use any detector, just cut the cig lighter plug off and connect the wires... the wires for mine were self explanitory (red and black)... you may want to use a multimeter to determine polarity before connecting wires, though.

cig lighter is easy to replace. check your fuses first before doing any work. check the connections on the back of it as well. yes you can hardwire the detector to any 12 volt source, ignition or driver's side kick panel fuse box.
