        lock up is closer to the top, shift solenoid is further down

        on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
        where you been, is something wrong?
        i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

                There are one set towards the top of the transmission, that is the lockup. The other set is near the bottom of the transmission way down in front. They look alike but they will not interchange. If you have a code 8 it is the one way down low in front.

                Here is some more info that may help;

                  Your 10 was probably a 1 which is the lockup and you changed the lockup solenoids which cured it. Now change the other set which is the shift solenoids and it should cure your code 8.

                    Yep that is the shift control solenoids which are the lower ones.

                      The right way to reset them is to remove the backup fuse under the hood and reinstall it or disconnect the positive battery cable then turn the ignition switch on and off then reconnect the cable. Their are a few people here who like to aggitate and curse at people instead of helping so just ignore the rude few and we will try to help all we can. I myself didn't read anything about shifting the automatic manually and really don't know why anyone would as it can shift a lot faster than you can anyway.
