Most likely you have a busted CV boot and your CV joint has gone bad, I have a busted boot myself and am dropping my car off today. Anyway just to repair the CV boot was going to run about $130, but a complete reman trans axle installed is only $150 here.

You can check for a busted boot by turning the wheel hard to either left or right and than getting out and visually checking the boots, you might have to slide under the car a bit, look for a ton of grease everywhere and split boot.

    Hope this helps

i think almost everyones cv boot got busted at one point. dont do the mistake i did and just replace the boot, buy the whole axle instead.

Argh. I couldn't disagree more. I've dealt with one too many bad rebuilds from the autoparts store. If your CV joint is still in good shape, I'd repack the fitting with grease and put on a new boot.

I will be asking for my old transaxle when I get my car done, and I will either be replaceing or repacking the CV joint. I want to have this for an upcoming H22A swap, when I get the money to do one, trying to fix the little problems I have at the moment first though.

BTW, sorry if I hijacked your thread.

my cv boots on my car used to get fucked up all the time. i changed them like twice till i gave up and bought two rebuild axles directly from the factory. since then i haven't had any problems with the axles.
u better buy ur axles ur self and put them urself otherwise its going to cost u a lot of money.

usually just the boot needs to be replaced with new grease. Just fix the boot ASAP when its starts clicking and you should be good to go.

If its clicking then the joint needs to be rebuilt. You need to replace the boot as soon as it tears...

Yea I just bought this car, I found the CV boot torn while I was checking sensors for my ABS light problem. the boot was completely split, I am considering buying a new transaxle from autozone (it's $75 with $15 dollar core) as apposed to rebuilt (which is $57 + $50 core both are Autozone brands) or I can buy a rebuilt at oriely's which is a cardone brand ($53 + $75 core). anyone got any advice on this?

Also I am wanting to flush my transmission I think my solenoids need cleaning, Honda dealer told me to just change the fluid 3X, is there any flush additive for transmissions?

Can really use some advice as I am going to do both tasks this weekend, please help CB7tuner.com your my only hope!

i bought my axles directly from cordone industries. my father works there. i put them like 1 year ago and i haven't had any problems with them.
as for the tranny flush i have done it like this.
i instaled a new tranny in the car. while the car was up in stands i put the tranny through out all of the gears. i let the car run for a little bit while is in the air. then take off the oil. i did repeat this 3 times. in the end i put the tranny oil that i got from honda. its suppose to be $4 a bottle.
there is a product called. " lucas transmision" it is supposely to be good but i haven't found where i can buy this product. a lot of guys here know about it. hopefully someone will tell us about it.
