climate has a lil bit to do with it. i also know that turbos require a thicker oil but i try to run what honda recommends for a n/a. for me in texas, during summer i run 5w30 and in winter i go to 10w30. once its hot its all about the same anyways.91 Ex CB9

Why are you running 10w30 in the winter? You have it backwards.
5w30. This designation is of a multi-weight oil. It has different properties at different temps.
The first number before the w pertains to the oil before(pour point) arriving at operating temp. The lower the number the more "flow". The lower the number the quicker your engine will spin on ignition and lubricated the internals and avoid hard starts in colder weather. It will also warm up quicker than 10w.
The second number is the viscosity of the oil at operating temperature.
The 'w' stands for winter.
You should run 5w30 in the winter and 10w30 in the summer, if you change at all.WTB - IACV for H22a4.
FS: 1993 CB9 w/H22a4 and much, much more.

You live in Iowa. It gets cold. Help your H22 get the lubricity on startup it so richly deserves!WTB - IACV for H22a4.
