    Oil in spark plug thingys

I hate being so descriptive in the title.

Ok, I took my spark plugs out the other day when doing other work on the car and there was a definite 'squishing' sound when I put the spark plug socket into the plug hole. Upon removing the plug, i saw that oil was dripping off the plug and it was covered in oil.

Is this an indication of plug seals going bad or rocker seals that or shot? If it is, does it require the head to be pulled (yes, with my luck)?

The car smokes slightly upon startup. Apart from valve guides, would this be an indication of a leaky plug seal or rocker seal? Would replacing the plugs be pointless simply due to them being covered in oil in a few thousand miles?

This is for a F22A1 with 163K on it.

Advice, help, or opinions would be helpful. Thanks!

I had the squishy thing too. According to the shop that fixed this for me, there are o-rings where the valve cover meets the head. Three of mine were broken. The shop replaced them for real cheap, so I know they did not pull the head. Probably just pulled the valve cover.

          yeah. What he said.

You could do it yourself, and it wouldn't cost more than 30 bucks.

Problem solved. It was the plug seals and the plug tube seals. Both taken care of along with timing belt, water pump, crank/cam/balance shaft seals today.
