    smelling oil

okay for those who don't know i drive a 95 honda accord EX 5spd.. with 158k miles vtec engine f22b1.. my main concern before i turbo it is.. is that when i push the car hard like pass vtec engagement point you'll smell oil burning out the exhaust.. but you don't see any smoke just scent.. i don't get it because the car never smokes on cold start up( i rev up high on cold start up to see if anything smokes come out) after operating temperature i try again nothing..

so i wanna know if this is normal.. or if my ringlands are bad? are about to go bad. i don't see how when i have low miles and i heard these motors can take a beating.... need to know i might do a compression test.. but i wanna hear from you guys 1st..

yea because its not blowing out smoke... thats why i say check if theres oil leaking on the down pipe some where and maybe that burning...used to happen with my car from leaky oil pressure switch....dripping on downpie would burn and create that smeell....also like i said i remeber my bor's old car when u would floor it ...it would make this nasty smeel form running kinda rich

Yeah definately check for oil leaks, that is the first thing I'd look at.

i would check rear main seal or pan gasket. did you notice if you where loosing oil check your dip stick. are you sure you dont have leaks like pcv valve. i know sometimes you can get a burn oil smell from pcv valve hose and shit. also do a compression tested and cylinder leak down test. when i had my cb i had a small leak in the exhaust before the cat and it would smell like ass sometimes.

MY friend said its exhaust fumes because we are gunning it at a high rpm so the engine is spinning faster so more exhaust is coming out the muffler.. even so.. i'm not suppose to be smelling it right. i think hes wrong.. i don't think its normal... if u keep rev under 4-5k u don't smell it.. but if ur almost at red in any gear you'll smell it.. smells like oil with a lil of clutch... thats the smell it got..

                        blow by?

what you mean.. now somebody said it could be the cat stinking like that.. makes sense because the cat does vibrate giving this buzzing noise but why would i only smell it at high rpm.. i guess the only thing i can do now before i do anything is do a compression test...
