    NEED HELP!!! *sobs*

ok. My baby is in a coma:

Bearings in distributor seizing. I get a new distributor, and put it on. There are 4 wires running to the ignitor, not the same on the old as the new (old has 2 bluish ones, new has a blue and a green). I know the blue is the tachometer sensor, but i CAN'T get the frickin thing to start. Distributor turns ok, but can't get a spark.

If the 2 wires were reversed, would that kill my ignitor? Cause when it wouldn't start, I reversed them to see if that was it. It wasn't so I put them back, but... damn. this is VERY frustrating.

    need some help

You know there should be a white stripe running through one of the wires.. the old one mine have a green one too, but it might look faded.. also make sure your rotor is pointing to the #1 cYL so it can starts...

*EDIT* i was trying to find a picture for you, but i couldnt.. sorry

        Update:

ECU is throwing a code 15, which means my ignitor is toast i think.

And.... inserting a dumb question... how do i make sure the rotor is pointed at #1? Manually turn the rotor and cam until it lines up? Is that necessary for the ignition to spark? Does it need to line up at #1 before I remove the distributor or just after?

Maybe the ECU code is thrown as a result if my not pointing at the #1 cyl, I'm not sure.

The 2 lookalike wires have no stripes whatsoever. Very confusing. I wrote it down but means nothing because i can't tell what the original colors were.

the new distrib had a blue wire, a green wire, a black/yellow wire, and a yellowish/green wire... old one was the same but instead of a blue had a slightly different shade of green (blue faded??) the manuals speak of a "light green" wire...

you might of toasted the ignitor again. also

when you stuck the distributor on did you make sure everything was ligned up at Top dead center? if you didnt that might also be a problem. but you might want to get the ignitor fixed first....

forget what i said about the white stripe on the wire...

also on the rotor the part with the lil metal on the end needs to be pointed to the #1 that i put on the distributor..

go and get a new ignitior. but the cap back as it was. make sure all the wires IN the distributor are conected. then close that shit up. make sure the distributor goes in right where it should be. conect the spark plug wires to 1 2 4 3 and u good to go. there is nothing to it man.
are we there yet are we there yet are we there yet

the issue is the wires in the new distributor and the old one aren't the same color.

OK. wow. The wires are part of that harness that you see the back of. Just so anyone knows... the wires are NOT transferable by color. You need to do it by length.

TDC has NOTHING to do with this at all, I don't know WHY it keeps coming up. You can only mount the distributor ONE WAY. It's completely keyed to prevent mis-mounting, and the rotor is too... I don't get the focus on the #1 cylinder at all.

The following is the whole story. It's long, but funny!

OK so yesterday I bought a distributor (for a 91, its $700, for my 92, only $180) and some other stuff. Got the stuff home and tried to change from one to the other. Did it ok, tried to start it... nothing but started. Got pissed, cause the wires on the new one aren't the same color as the old, and I must have hooked it up wrong. Took it all apart again, changed wiring, and tried again. STILL nothing. ECU throws a code 15... it's the igniter. Another $140, but I'm still uncertain about the wiring. Called Honda the SECOND they opened, and he said "yeah, bring it in and we'll see.¨ So I get my dad to drive me in, and he looks at the two of them, and its obvious he has NO clue. He runs back to the mechanics, and comes back in a minute and says he can¡¦t help, I should go see service. I'll have to pay them to look at it, but they can help. I wasn't happy but we walked over to Service (what choice do I have, really??) They look at me funny and say "no you need to go to parts for that." I told him no, parts sent me HERE. A mechanic thats like maybe 19 comes over, I explain I need help with the wiring, and he drags me into the service bays. No mechanics will help him/me, too busy even just to answer a simple question. I say, you know what? Nevermind. I'll buy the igniter, if it turns out I don't need it I'll bring it back. Parts guy says nothing, prints the receipt and I go pay the $140. I go to Colonial Honda in Halifax (20 mins away from the 1st dealer), cause I like them more and STILL need the wires sorted out cause I don't know if it's right or not. There, the parts advisor immediately takes it back to the mechanics, where they rewire the distributor to the igniter and say it should be good to go. I get home, install it, and it starts right up. So I just bought a $140 part I don't need.

I go BACK to Portland St. Honda, and go to parts, and tell him I want to return it, and pass him the invoice. I say that Colonial had been able to help me. He points on the invoice where it says "No returns on electrical items or special order items." I look at him and say "uh.... What??"
"Sorry, I can¡¦t take it back."
"you're KIDDING me right?? You sent me to the wrong department, couldn't help me, so I bought it and said I'd bring it back if I didn't need it, you said NOTHING."
                        "that¡¦s the policy"
"If you had HELPED me I wouldn't have bought the stupid thing in the first place cause I wouldn't have thought I NEEDED it. Are you sure you want to do this?? Do you know who you're jerking around?" (I spend a lot of money on parts and there're 2 other Honda's that live with mine... a few people at the dealership know this)
                        "I"m sorry that's it"
"Right... You're not pulling this shit with me now, after the day I had, bud. Seriously... is your manager in?"
"No, you can come see him on Monday though"
"Yeah right. We're finishing this now. Get me a manager, I don¡¦t care who at this point."
"uh .o.. k" he runs off all over the place looking for someone. Finally a suit comes over and starts the conversation with "So I hear you're trying to return an electrical part..."
I basically told him exactly the story above. He looks at me funnily, apologizes, and signed a return for the $140 part. Moral of the story? There's a few:

                        1. Don't seek assistance from unqualified computer monkeys who don't know ANYTHING about car parts, only inventory (my fault for buying on a Saturday I guess)
                        2. The distributors we get as replacement have the same color wires but different functions. Very confusing.
                        3. If the Tach sensor (yellow/green on original distrib, blue on new) comes loose, the tachometer will look like a VU meter it dances around so much
                        4. Honda of America recalls thing Honda of Canada doesn't (ie distributor). This can be used to your advantage when you bitch to a manager.

MY CAR RUNS AGAIN, AND IT'S GREAT!

PS also installing MSD Blaster SS coil, anyone using this PM me and let me know how it works
