    gauge instalation

ok i am making this quick because i go to go to work.
i know in order to take off the cover of the gauge cluster i have to remove the 12 bolts. how do i move the gauge cluster from the car so i can put the reverse glow gauges.
i know that i have to be super careful with the needles etc. when i need to know is how to take off the cover and how do i make the new gauge faces stick in so there is no needle rubing???
and what is up with the gas needle. i have been told that gets all fucked eventhough u don't touch the needle????? how do i prevent this????
and how do i conect the electric wires and all. do i need the stock light and swich to be on at the same time???
i realy would apriciate the help guys. thanks

Once you get the center and guage trim out of the way, there are four screws holding the guage pod in place. Remove them and then you'll find 3 electrical plugs on the front bottom of the pod. After those are removed, you can begin to work the pod out, but be careful. There is one more electrical plug-in on the top of the pod. Once you can access it, unplug it and you're free to take it out. The plastic is held on with clips that are really easy to release. Afterwards, everything kinda just falls apart. If you got the ebay guages, you don't pull the needles, they just go over top of your OEM's. Be careful that the needles move freely before putting it back together. Mine had a bur on them and it gets stuck at 60. You'll probably also notice that they don't match up with the OEM either. I didn't have any problem with my gas and I moved it all around because you can't hardly get the gas/temp face on without both needles pointing upward.

It's really easy, take your time, good luck.

Does any company offer the gauges like they sell on ebay, but of better quality? I'm not talking about luminescent gauges but the ones on ebay that look like a 7th gen Accord.

ok so when i put the gas/temp gauge i can move the neddle so they point at eachother in order to put the gauge right????
where do i conect the 2 wires that go from the gauge swich(black and red)
they also told me to use this two face dark tape or something. i thing is called 3mm on staples or someting( is this recomandable)

i bought my gauges from procar.com(i think that is the name) they cost me about $60. they are exacly as the oem ones that i got in the car. or at least they look like it. the e bay ones are cheap but they go up to 140mph and the other ones that go up to 130mph aren't exacly like the ones that honda have. the ones on procar were similar that is why i decided to buy them
ok wish me luck. its tuesday 12:30 pm and i will start doing them. hopefully u guys still around here to help me if i got any problems.

its usually recommended to hold the gauge faces down with a bit of glue or double sided tape, the double sided tape is available all over... its basically just normal scotch tape with sticky stuff on both sides. use it to hold the gauge face down against the stock one, away from the needle.

and about the gas and temp needles... people make a huge deal about those... if you remember where they were before u move them, im pretty sure u can move them around without hurting them, like akrodha said. i moved my gas one, put it back to kinda where it was, and its been fine ever since. and i already know the speedo/tach ones can be moved around without hurting them at all.

for power, you need to run it to a 12v line and make sure its fused... you could try the back of the cigarette lighter, or maybe the fuse panel under the driver side dash. dont tie into the dimmer knob tho!

i suggest leaving the bulbs installed in the back of the cluster, because those also light up the odometer and the "maintenance required" light... you could probly drill a little hole in the side of the cluster somewhere, or just find a place to run them thru. it doesnt really matter.

and finding a good 12v? surprisingly enough, i really dont know. im kinda wary of tying into existing circuits, so im gonna end up running a whole new positive line from the battery to power all of my interior stuff... the neons... etc... so i dont really know for sure because ive never done it.

You should have to hook up a few wires for the gauges. Do they have a dimmer?

You will need to hook up power and ground. You can just tap out of the wires that go accross the top of the cluster, where those 2 or 3 big lights connect.

I incorporated the dimmer that came with my gauges into the factory dimmer switch.

                      how did u do that.
what i have done till now.
i have all gauge faces installed and got the wires outback of the cluster by removing those two big bulbs. i have conected all gauge wires with the swich and box that came with the kit.
now where do i conect the red and black wires??????

the two wires that go up the gauge cluster that go to the bulb>>>>> which is positive and which is negative.

my kit came with a black box and with a swich for the gauges. the swich is for blue and green light and to put the brightnes up and down.
now i need to know what do i have to conect in oder that when i put my lights on the gauges can have light too.<<<<<< how do ido that.

remember i am doing this right now so if u know it just say it. i am right in front of the pc and i can get it as soon as u write it.

                          hope your still there:

just hook those red and black wires up to the wires on the top, like I said. What color are the wires in the car? Negative should be black, or have a black stripe.

i am here. the wires that go on top of the gauge cluster are the same colour. they go from the clear glass of the gauge cluster to the back of the gauge cluster where a big blue bulb is located.

just help me out so when i turn the lights on the gauges can be on at the same time.
i will be back at 5:10 pm. i need a brake otherwise i will brake that shit man.
                            thanks guys.

if you tie into the wires you are referring to, the gauges will light up when you turn on ur headlights. im assuming thats what u want.

and about getting the correct wires for positive and negative - tie directly into those 2 wires, it doesnt matter which is which. if it doesnt turn on, take out the big bulb that the wires run to, flip it around 180°, and reinstall.
