bolt in back of block for coolant change

Trying to change my coolant accoring to the service manual and there's a bolt in the back of the engine up and to the left of the oil filter that I can't get off for the life of me. I'm trying to get the bolt off cuz draining the block is supposed to get like 90-95% of the coolant but I'm afraid with this thing not budging I might end up doing something else.

So, has anyone else been able to get it off? If so, how? Otherwise, anyone got sometips/tricks to get the damn thing off??

I wouldn't worry about it honestly. Here's what you do. Drain your radiator, then then just fill it back up to the proper level with water. Drive around till your car gets to operating temperature, then flush the radiator again. Then just top it off with coolant. That's all I ever do.

what about disconnecting the top radiator hose and running the engine to get the rest of the coolant out? I read that on another thread- would that work?

I would just do what I did...you don't want to overheat the car, and with my way, you won't.

The only reason why you would empty out all the coolant with disconnecting the top hose is if you were flushing the system but you still need water running through the system cant just do it dry. Thats how I do it at least...Anyway there is a petcock on your radiator loosen it and you should be able to drain most of the coolant off. Its easier if all else fails just dc the lower radiator hose. The petcock is just cleaner and doesnt make a mess.

id do the usual flushing it with water, but suggested to do it repeatedly depending on how dirty it is.

Several good taps with a hammer may be just what it needs to break loose.
A radiator drain and refill every year is easier, quicker, and less mess.

slide a pipe on your wrench or socket wrench for extra leverage. that will show the bolt who's boss. later.

Do this man. Go to autozone and get a prestone T fitting. Get the 5/8th one, because that's what size your heater hose is. Locate the heater hoses coming out of the firewall. Trace the left hose that goes to the water pump. That is the inlet heater hose for the heater core. Cut it in the middle and put the t fitting inbetween the cut hose with ringworm clamps. Now all you have to do is take a garden hose and flush the system thru that fitting. Do it with the radiator drain plug off. I cut both my heater hoses and put the t fittings on them. Thats how i flushed out my heater core.
