Would a f22a head handle 7k rpm max if i rebuild it upgrading the valve springs, possibly running a 262 or 272 regrind, pnp and maybe mill for a clean suface. Im currently running with a h23 trans on my a4 and it dosent like coming close to 6k (sounds bad). I would justlike to rev a litle higher to use the gearing of the trans better without swapping motors.

here's what i'll tell you...even on a stock cb7 manual trans...you can rev up to 7k rpm but still drop back to 4k because our gearings are long..but..you'll lose power after 6,300 rpm..you fell your car not pulling and u feel your valves floating..and when i use to have my stock tranny and reving just right at red..im hiting 16.6 at a 1/4 and when i put the h23 tranny in...and just did a resurface and did a 3 angle valve job with dual valve spring and retainers..but consistanly shifting at 7,000 rpm and my my rpm will drop back to 5,200-5,300..some where there...and i hit a 16.1....on street tires with stock headers....so it's up to you!

He said he was upgrading the head. It should be able to handle that much RPM the only thing I would be worried about is inside the block. The crank and all that wasnt really made to rev that high and dunno how long it would last. I forgot what hondafan81 was running on his red setup. If you plan to rev to 7k the EX ecu has a limiter at 6800. As for the DX/LX ecu I am not sure. I know they have a speed limiter but dunno about a rev limiter. But if you plan to go up to 7k you would prob need a p06 to achieve that.

Thanks for your input, ive got a blown a1 sitting around im gonna pull the head off and replace/upgrade the insides close to stock for now bc its my dd and i dont have anything else to drive right now. but when i do the motor will be coming out for work.

Thats when i have somthing else to drive its all coming out for a build. but right now i belive my valve seals are leaking and valves are ticking real bad already been to the daler for valve lash adj. didnt quite help any.

You should be taking your head to another dealer if thats what the previous one did if not bring it back and tell them to fix the work. Thats a half assed job and you should be able to get them to fix it properly for free.

I only paid 100 for the lash adj. and valve cover gasket set at the dealer so im not complaining. im going to do it myself within the next couple of weeks with an oil change and pan gasket replacement.
