    Clutch change...now trouble!!

ok guys, changed my clutch today got some questions about some issues im having now.

ONE-why the hell is it so hard to shift???? when its been off for a while, its damn near impossible to get into gear. as in the very first time i put it in first, i was in the driv seat, leaned over to the pass seat so my back was on it, and put both hands on the shift knob and pushed with my whole body till it popped into first. it works, but i cant use it as a dd in this shape!!also, when on the interstate if im in 5th, i cant drop it into 4th. it just wont go. however, i can put it in third, and then 4th and then 5th. after that, if im in 5th i can throw it in 4th. wtf is up with that???

TWO-and ill search in a minute, but what type of transmission fluid is best for my accord???

THREE- when i throw it in third, it makes this grinding noise, and it sounds like the gears grinding (like when u shift with out having the clutch fully engaged) but its not as loud. it actually sounds more like when u rip packing tape off the role...is this just the clutch slipping as it breaks in???

thanks guys!! any help would be appreciated!!

It is quite possible your shifter cables have some sort of bind in them.

You should be using genuine Honda manual transmission fluid.

yeah i thought that i had a bind too but if that was the case i think theyd be broke right now since i had to drive it 45 miles home and i was shifting the whole time feeling it out

        1. Rebleed and make sure no air.
        2. As mentioned check for binding
        3. Already mentioned OEM.
        4. Depending on what type of clutch you have your supposed to break it in not rag on it. And the grind shouldnt be part of the clutch. My old trans that came with my h22 had a third gear grind it was minor but only when I Was gunning it.

          thanks guys

what does your actual clutch peddle feel like? i had a similar prob. i drove my ride up on a steep incline and pumped the clutch peddle a ton, then held it in immediately after. if there is air in your system it should travel out and up to the reservoir. good luck bro.
hey. my cb7 has morphed. haha.

well it feels better than it used to, but i dont know how a good clutch should feel since my old one was so shitty. ima rebleed them tomorrow, and check for binding all around sometime. ill keep you guys updated tho

Make sure your cables arent are over the rear motormount and not under it. Make sure that if your car isnt driveable do not force it into gear thats how you mess up your gears and synchros too.

check the adjust ment on the cables they could be out of adjustment thats what those lil bolts are there for the manual has correct specs on them thats alos a problem with teh 3rd gear grind that most people get

also honda manual tranny fluid is garbage thus beliving it is what causes aot of syncro grind use a thicker manual gear oil i use either valvoline tough guard or royal purple

yeah me and a friend were just out there working on it and guess what? OUT OF SYNC.

its tons better now, but im still not gonna drive it till we take the trans back off and make sure my TOB isnt torn up. we replaced it when i changed the clutch but something still just isnt quite right...oh well.

                    thanks guys!
