    Need Help!!!!!!

My mom has an 1997 Honda Accord SE, here motor went bad a she needed a motor swap. I had a great deal lined up for an F22B1 VTEC out of an 1995 Honda Accord EX that I was going to put into my '91 Accord LX. Motor only had 124,000 mi. and was in working order when it was pulled. My mom's car is OBD-II and the motor is from a OBD-I car, so I bought a conversion harness that goes OBD-II to OBD-I, the POA-51 ECU that goes with the '94-'95 F22B1 VTEC, and we put everything in fine. The motor starts but, it is like it is only running on 2 cylinders. Where did I go wrong? What could be causing this problem? ECU is good, harness I got from Nipponpower.com, I heard saw and witnessed engine start, shut-off, and restart and run for 20 minutes before it was pulled. Help PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nah, she doesn't race. 124,000 mi. for a honda engine is nothing, I have 302,000 mi. on my '91 Accord that I drive now and I changed the oil yesterday. I've only had to change the alternator. Timing Belt maintenance and timely oil changes, you could easily get above 350,000+ mi. out of these engines. Motor ran fine in the car it was pulled from, you couldn't hear it idling it was so smooth. That's why I got it plus it was a great deal too.

Depending on which obd1-obd2 conversion you got you may have to switch pins A6 and A11 i think it was. Was that done?

I checked with my mechanic an we came up with a possible problem. The Crankshaft Sensor for the '97 F22B2 and the '95 F22B1 are different. Had used the F22B2 sensor on the F22B1 because we noticed that the sensor on the F22B1 was broken. So I ordered a new sensor and will install it when it arrives. So you think the Crankshaft sensor could be the reason that it is only running on 2 cylinders?

I dunno why you didnt go obd1-obd2...they make harnesses for that but good point on the person mentioning the crankshaft sensor and such. It is slightly different as I recall. Which distributor you throw in.

The reason I didn't go OBD-1 to OBD-2 is because the car I put the engine into was a '97 Honda Accord SE which is OBD-2, the engine I put into the car was from an '95 Honda Accord EX which is OBD-1. The harness had to be converted to OBD-1 because the ECU for the engine is OBD-1. Also the '97 Accord was not VTEC but, the new engine I put in is VTEC. I didn't want to have to convert alot of things like Dizzy, Crankshaft Sensor, etc... Alot easier to go with the OBD of the ECU that goes with the engine.

I got the F22B1 for a steal, I couldn't pass it up. It was like $300 for the motor.
