    AEM intake question

I was just wondering if a AEM short ram intake would make any difference at all in my 90 lx. From what I have read, short rams suck but i just ordered one anyways. What am i to expect out of this intake? did i wayste my money or am i going to get a reasonable gain our of this?

ahh, I think we've all wondered this @ some point when we first started modding our cars. What mods gain what power? Truth is, the intakes do give some numbers on the dynos. We aren't talking amazing but decent. From what i have always know, short ram help a little bit more on the low end, and not so much on the mid-high, while CAI's, help on mid-high while sacrificing a little on the low. DO a search on here, and you will find vasts amount of information. You got your first mod, from what you said, it's definitely a good start. Now get some EX header and an cat-back exhaust, and while your at it get a nice hi-flo cat. peaCe.

I think that it is worth the money, adds a couple HP and makes a very nice sound!

more throttle response than cai and cheaper... extra 1 or 2 hp at high rpms is what a cai would give you

go cai man.cooler air = more power.they dont like hot air wich the short ram sucks in.better throttle response yes, more much more power no.cai is better, yes little less throttle response but your engine will love you 4 it.

I dont think i want to go with a CAI cause it rains quite a bit here and when it rains, it floods like shit. Even with a bypass valve I wouldnt feel safe with one. Maybe when I get tires of the short ram ill try a CAI and see what happens.

actually no... ive had both on, and i like my short ram 100X better

the CAI just didnt have the quick response like the SR did...

and here is a place where you can get an AEM SR for 101 dollars shipped.. www.coximport.com we ordered my friends AEM from there.. good place

do get water into your engine your filter would hafta be smerged.never mind with a bypass. but hey you want short ram go ahead, but when your not making any hp dont come crawling back.even with any intake you wont make much hp but you will make more with acai.dont worry about water.

I love my short ram. And we went through this before, the difference between cai and short ram are minimal. The quicker response makes up for the 2 ponies lost with the short ram.

if you drive your car daily go with the short ram. i work two jobs now so i can start modding my 93 ex and im about to get a short ram, theres not much difference in the two and if u go cold air, and it rains, u cant go anywhere without running risks. short ram no problem. it floods here so often and i have to go to work (40 miles round trim tp both of them) so if ur in a situation where u use ur car alot and wether is unpredictable, dont run the risk of water in ur intake, go short ram

so are short rams worth it?

do u get better throttle response and any gains? does mpg suffer?

i am thinking of getting an intake, but not sure what is out there. i saw AEM , but its kinda costly

i got some power gains. if your going with a short ram, go with an ebay special. i paid 38 for mine shipped to my apartment. if your going cold air, then spend some extra chas, get the powder coated aem, they fit perfect, and the powder coating keeps the air colder going through the pipe. with the short ram, it doesnt matter if its powder coated, cuz the air is from the engine bay anyway, so its already hot, just easier to get than with the stock intake. so yea you get gains, very cheap off of ebay, and they usually work well. i got a lot of low end power back with it, so not bad for 38$. and as stated with short ram, you dont have to get the bypass to eliminate the risk of the hydrolock. you can get a short ram, with great sound for $20 less than just the bypass for the cold air
