    p06 question

I want to get a chipped ecu for my NA setup. I don't have a cam yet but I plan on getting either a delta or bisimoto. I know a lot of people get the p06 from the civics and I was wondering if I could get a virgin p06 for $60 is it worth it? Also, what would I have to do to chip it after I get it?

$60 sounds reasonable, and what's your setup?

F22a1 I/H/E, Apex'i SAFC (which I intend on removing if I get a chipped ecu).
The only problem is I don't know how to go about chipping it myself. The soldering part is not hard, just knowing what to do.

I guess my question is, would it be worth it to get the p06 and chip it myself or would it be better to buy one already chipped and tuned?

      edit: oh and 5 spd

there are few member on here that will chip the ecu for you. d112drzy is one of them and it seems like he knows what he is doing so contact him.

yeah if you're not sure I would get a chipped one and either send it out or take it to a tuner shop.

Average price for virgin p06 ecu is about $50. Then, you send your ECU to a guy that can chip it and hopefully give you a decent basemap for your setup, enough to start your motor/run it to the dyno to get properly tuned. That is the process. For I/H/E, intake manifold, throttle body modifications I'd stick with stock ECU, but once you start throwing in camshaft(s), then get a chipped ECU. Heck, even significantly improving your intake system with bored TB and ported IM, I bet a chipped ECU may help as well.

Well I'm definately going to be getting a new camshaft some time in the next month or 2 so should I get that before the ecu? because it won't run very well with the cam and no tuned ecu will it?

It won't run badly, but you won't get the maximum output of the cams unitl you chip and tune your ecu

Oh ok. I guess I'll get the cam first then.
