Quick question on clunking and CV joints

    Last one, I promise...

My car clunks on acceleration from a dead stop, and when I let off the gas in a low gear. I've been through this on my old CB and it turned out to be the LBJs, but this car has a fresh set so I doubt it's that. The motor mounts are solid (it has that familiar all-over idle hum and they were filled about 3 years ago w/the McMaster 94A mix). The axles are supposedly bad, but they look ok, and they don't make that trademark clicking noise when you turn, just a clunk on acceleration. Could it be the sway bar endlinks? The car rolls a lot in the turns.

The axles can be bad without broken boots. The inner joints were fried on mine once and under acceleration it would vibrate like crazy.

I'll have to take it to my local mechanic and give it a lookover. With the history of the car though I'm definitely leaning towards bearings.
