Rebuild rack and pinion?

just wondering if any light can be shed on this topic.

If I can get one for around 140 on Ebay, I may just go that route. cause the individual parts on majestichonda needed for a rebuild are too $$$.

Personally I would get the new rack and pinion usually they come with a warranty too so if they fuck up you can blame it on someone =D.

Parts store rack and pinions definitely have that advantage but that's still dropping at least $200 plus a core. I know that rebuilding a rack and pinion is way more involved than you're up for because of the tools involved. If all you're experiencing are leaks though you might be able to get by only replacing o-rings where the pressurized lines come into the rack as somewhere down the line of ownership some idiot put in non-Honda power steering fluid and it damaged the seals.

I'm kinda rebuilding one, in the process..I'm just replacing the wear parts, seals, o-rings, boots, etc

The parts from majestic are about 100-150 or so.

I got my rebuilt from a guy here in TX locally. Told him to use all HONDA OEM parts. only cost 120. Since I got hooked up but If I was a normal joe It woulda cost about 200-300 depending on parts needed...

what about the pinion gear?

I just bought a used one with a 6 month warranty, im currently tearing it down, the rack looks fine, but the pinion im not sure. how much play should it have?
