Is My Alternator Going Bad?

Is your battery old? If it is, it might not be holding enough voltage and current to keep running all your devices when the engine is at idle. Have your alternator tested. If it is not working, your battery will be discharged probably every day or two.Originally posted by 93LxI have notice when i roll my power windows up or down my rpms drop to where it's damn near stalling out. Well test the alternator. Do the lights go dim. Lubing up the rails helps believe it or not. Less resistance = less use of voltage.

IF you hear winding in your speakers thats something dealing with a ground in your system if I remember.
What I meant was the channel the window runs on and the lil motor deal that supports the windows. Basically the joints and such. Helps with a smoother operation. But yea test your alternator sounds like its slowly crapping out on you.

Yes as long as you use the F22 Bracket. I am running one on my h22a. I forgot if the h22a/f22a alt bracket are the same but mine bolted right up and I used it plus my f22a alternator.

also, engine whine is not always from bad grounds. It can also be from a bad alternator...when the diodes burn out in the alternator, what you get is more AC ripple in your power source (and hence engine whine).
I went through this with mine...i'm a SQ nut and anal about little noises/static/ticks/turn on pops in my stereo. I thought it was grounds and tried many many different ground combinations, etc. Turns out my alternator had 2 bad diodes. They can be checked with some voltmeters and some alternator disassembly.

i didnt feel like reading through this thread because i am beat.. all you need to do is reground all of the ground wires in the engine bay.
take off the grounds use a little sand paper to get it down to bare metal and bolt the grounds back in and i bet you wont have those problems anymore...
and if it doesnt work then you'll need an alternator. but thats the best way to tell!
it worked for me, but i bought the 300 dollar alternator first (dummy)..
