    cel #6

Ok I got a new o2 and wires and the only cel code I got is 6 water temp. sensor, what is it, where is it, and what does it affect.

Water temp sensor should affect the temp gauge of your vehicle. There is one on the thermostat housing and another on the water neck hose on the front of the engine head. They are green connectors.

    ...adjust accordingly

Code 6 is the coolant temperature sensor. It is the sensor that plugs into the cylinder head. It is under the distributor. Has a geen connector on it. Basically the ECU gets its info from this sensor when the engine is warm to go into closed loop mode.It also affects your fuel/air ratio, sends the signal to turn on your fans(via thermo switch). The sending unit tells you how hot you are running(via gauge), the cts moniters your engine temperature, feeds the ecu this info, and the ecu reacts.(fans come on, closed loop mode, afr adjustments etc)

Coolant temperature sensor is probably the wrong name for it. It should be called engine temperature sensor, but its notcalled that. The top radiator hose housing is the ac switch, the one that plugs into the thermostat is the radiator fan switch. You want to change the sensor under the ditributor that plugs into the head. You getting any hard starts?

Dang right I am, I have to step on the gas to crank it on the 1st turn, other than that it blows this black stuff out the tailpipe and until I put some fuel cleaner in it, it used to bog at high speeds or rpms
