if i was to replace my rocker arm, would i have to re adjust my valves, thanks.

i have a crack on my rocker arm....the part right above the distributor.
i have extra rocker arms and kno how to remove and install them but i have kno clue of how to adjust valves, s if i can replace it with out having to adjust the valves it would be nice.

If the car moves, I'd have Honda do it. Valves and valve clearances are things that even the smartest folks leave to the Honda-techs. An aqauntance of mine, with a built, juiced, H22 93 hatch once said to me "I don't fuck with that sh*t" and he was one smart guy.

If the car doesn't move, I'd get the arm on there, and then have Honda do a valve adjustment. Here's a quick rundown, but I'd wait for someone else to back up my statement before doing anything:

Set the particular piston the valve is on to TDC. Then feel the distance of the rocker arm from the valve. There's a specific travel distance you can feel by rocking the rocker arm. Then, when you replace the arm, check that this distance is relatively the same....just do it by feel....you don't need a feeler gauge. Compare the arm travel to all the other arms in the head. If they all seem to feel the same distance, then drive the car down to Honda for a valve adjustment.

Yes, the valves have to be adjusted if you pull off the rocker assembly. Have you ever adjusted valves before? Its not that hard. Kill two birds with one stone and replace the lower tube seals while you have the rockers off. I'll have a DIY on tube seal/rocker assembly replacement soon.

Actually... If you are talking about the part I think you are... you can just pull that off of the extra set and replace that one part... it's kind of a pain putting the rocker arms back together... a third hand would come in handy... I'd have to take a looksee though... I'm not sure about that part...but that should minimize any problems with the valve lash being different from using another engine's parts... I'll doublecheck though just to be sure...

It's a good idea to at least make sure the lash is in spec after removing the rocker assembly... I've pulled mine quite a few times... and sometimes the lash is off and sometimes it isn't...

and as far as adjusting the valve lash... Slateboy's comments are ridiculous...first off, the guy with the "built, juiced H22" obviously didn't build it himself or do any work on it...sounds like a total dealership service dept. whore talking...and second... adjusting it by eyeballing it? WTF? Don't ever do that...

all you need is a flathead, a wrench and a feeler gauge...it's so ridiculously easy... why bother paying anywhere from $50-80/hr to have someone else do it... takes like 10-15 minutes max... maybe more if it's your first time... a manual would come in handy if you've never done it before...
