h22 tranny is it really needed?.....i say no

yes you most likly will need the h22 tranny if you have a base h22 or type s h22 in order to stay in vtec cause the redline is 7200 for the base and 7500 for the type S but for the f20b i say you dont casue while i was out running my f20b i was rapping it up to 8k and through the first 2 shifts with my stock f22 tranny it stayed in vtec 1 to 2 it was around 5500, 2 to 3 it was around 5200 but then again of course i will be getting an lsd h22 tranny just because i want it to speed up faster hehehe i was supprised it stayed in vtec....kinda

no you dont really need it to stay in vtec, you need it because of the wonderful shorter gears

Ah, again, it's all personal choice. Some like F22 for gas milage, others like H22 for acceleration. Now if only one could put an F22 5th gear and FD into an H22 trans. Yumm...

I hate how long the f series gears are. For cruising its fine. For turbo its OK. But I still think in a highish reving NA engine it would drive me insane. If you really want to use your f20b to its potential, an h22 trans is pretty much essential.

You try using an F series trans when autocrossing. Last thing I want to do is keep throwing my tranny into first. Also since the gearing is so broat second would take forever to accelerate in an NA vehicle when your out of its powerband. Ill stick with the h22/h23 trans. Pickup is so much better.

Honestly, the Euro R is the ideal tranny.

Identical 1st and 5th gears, but 2nd 3rd and 4th are spaced better.

The thing I don't like about the M2B4, is the huge gap between 1st and 2nd.

There are just some odd gaps.

The T2W4 cures that I believe, without making it worse on the highway.

First gear on either tranny is fine IMO.

i dont feel like the h23 has that much shorter gears, 1st still feels pretty long 3rd is noticabely shorter as well as second...

i obviously notice 5th because of the higher rpm at high mph. but im glad i got the h23 because id hate to have a non lsd h22... eventually ill get one...

So i have an F20a with a F22 tranny. Im thinking about getting a new tranny should i get an H23 tranny or F22 tranny? How does h23 tranny make the gears shorter?
