i am a "Gross Polluter" (need help on NOx)

so i tried to pass smog today didnt really work out successfully.

lets list the things i have done
-brand new f22a6 engine with 6k on it
-2 year old cat (passed last year's smog fine)
    -spark plugs
    -wires passed resistance test
    -TPS set to .45v
    -cleaned egr
-fuel injectors has been cleaned and flowed
    -o2 sensor
    -air filter
-oil and filter are only 1k old

so yea, the HC and CO are like minimum (probably 1/10 the max allowd)
    thanks guys
    I <3 G60.

          Most likely a dead cat.

If it is aftermarket, they don't last long.

That is why Honda's are 600+ and Carsounds are 100+

Depends on the quality of materials, and and how well it is built.

It also depends a lot on whether or not the car is running rich, although the emmissions results would seem to say no.

NOx typically come about from really good complete combustion, and the cat is designed primarily to reduce these emmissions, so my guess would be dead cat.

I have friends who have killed them in a year or less.

there is only 5k miles on the cat and is made by carsound.
i also followed the manual and applied 8hg's to the EGR valve and the engine didnt die like it was suppsoed to. it also doesnt hold vacuum. i tested a spare egr valve i have and it holds vacuum.

i do recall my egr being filthy as fuck so i may have to go ahead and try cleaning them out. and if i was running rich or misfiring would it show on my sparkplugs and smog readings? because like i said, my other HC and CO readings are like nothing at all.

EGR usually deals with NOx emissions. HC is more of a Catalytic converter thing.

if you apply vacuum to your egr valve, your car is supposed to stall and may die. if it doesn't, then your egr ports may be clogged. do that first. good luck. and maybe a known good cat would help. but cleaning out your egr ports will help a lot and in performance too.

carsound = magnaflow, they have a 5 yr and 50k mile warranty on them. i may just replace it and sell the one that i have because i really feel like passing smog this year.
