    heres the problem

i blew a coolant line (the one under the distributor) on my way home the other night. I replaced it and the car was still overheating so i replaced the thermostat and filled the system. Well now the car is running and its blowing super hot air through the vents but the temp gauge is still reading that it is overheating. Its not boiling in the overflow or anything and its not leaking anywhere. Is there a chance the temp sending unit as gone bad? Any ideas as to why this is happening, i am afraid to drive the car like this... Please someone help.

FYI its a 92 EX with the f22a6

i thought i did, i opened the bleeder nipple on the thermostat housing and let it pump out like in all the threads i found....do i did to do it with the car on? thats the only thing i was confused on was whether to bleed it with the car running or not, sorry bout the newb questioning.

Check the ground on the T-Stat housing. I had issues with my temp guage reading really hot and that ground ended up being bad.

well i was out there and found it leaking from the back of the t-stat housing, sounds like the o-ring on the water pipe, so i tried to change it but the bottom bolt on the t-stat is stripped...so i need to get something to take the bolt off. other than that i think that is my main problem

Yea that will do it. Low coolant level = overheat great stuff.

What do you mean "high temp" t stat is there such a thing. All there are are ratings. When are you overheating? DRiving, idling?

Uhh whats your mileage and when was the last time you did your timing. Why you buy such a high tstat? 180 should be fine.

im thinkin it might be the timing because we changed my clutch last weekend and my buddy marked it but he took the distributor out...so im gonna time it and see if that works

i got that t-stat cause in the past when everything seemed ok but i was overheating by going with a bigger t-stat i was able to keep the temp lower...no biggie to me i mean i just returned another one and told em it didnt work and they took it back without testing it
