muffler and exhaust piping confusion

hey guys as some of you may know, my new coupe is missing a muffler and a lot of the pipe is rusting off . . .

i just bought a muffler off of ebay and it has a 2.5 inch inlet, from all my looking around it looks to be that our exhaust piping is 2.25 inch . . . will it be possible to get new piping and then hook up my new 2.5 inch muffler?

what i was planning on doing was going to an exhaust shop and having them weld up some new pipe to replace the bad pipe and then hook up the muffler . . . so 2.25-->2.5 . . . will it work or no?

Exhaust shop can do the pipe mod.

Yes you can have a shop weld a 2.5" muffler onto 2.25" piping, that shouldnt be a problem at all

i thought stock piping was 1 7/8"?

so what is the stock exhaust piping measurement?

I don't know but its definately smaller than 2.25". But the muffler shop can still make it work no prob.
