    Cooling system help.

Hey guys, I'm trying to make my car last until the F22B swap I'm doing in 1-2 weeks. I have sprung a leak in the cooling system and am loosing coolant FAST! I'm driving a 91 honda F22A1 and the leak is on the hose going from the head/thermostat area (sorry for not knowing exactly what it is no manual on me) and goes to the right corner device on the intake manifold. From there it goes to another device in the center of the intake manifold and then back to it's original starting place/area.

I know it's probably difficult to know what I'm talking about, but my question is that I was curious as to if it was possible to just remove this hose that goes to the intake manifold. Would any over heating occure or would the car just not run correctly.

Again I apologise for being so vague, but all help is very appreciated. Thanks.

          *sigh* x2!!!!!

and if u cant make it to honda for some strange reason and pay the $5.xx dollar part, u can go to like autozone or pepboys or an general auto store and get generic rubber hose to replace it.

Alright, I got it back together... kinda. I wound up just cutting off the tip (bad section) of hose and streching the remaining hose back on. I was in kind of a bind because I'm at work right now and couldn't exactly leave. My work is pretty laid back since I'm the mechanic in the factory, not everything is broken all the time so I get some time to fix my own stuff.

npor - all i can say is that I'm looking foward to it. Like a kid at christmas.

When I do get my F22B I'd like to remove anything that's not needed. I already have the AC compressor removed, but is there any cooling lines I could take out/ bypass? Just curious while I'm in a cooling system kind of mood.

cutting th hose and pulling it a lil further is no big deal as for refilling the sytem... surely he didn't loose that much also hope things go well with your swap... out of curiousity are you or someone else doing the swap... reason i ask is i am worried.. for you didn't even know what the iacv was or the fiacv... you gona runn into alot of problems unless you study up on everything.. just be sure to mark and lable all your hoses before pulling the motor .and you should be good.

I'm doing the swap hopefully with a bit of help from my room mate. I've never dealt with the iacv or the fiacv before, but I could have known if I had my manual with me, which I didn't. I had a good hunch on the iacv, but not the fiacv. What had happened was a small hole got worn in one of the coolant lines and when the hot coolant expanded, that hole would just spray out onto the hood (when closed). It got so bad that yesterday on my way to work I filled up the cooling system and when I got to work which is about 10 miles away, my car was already overheating.

My original plan was to just cap off those two coolant lines, but as how easy it was to just jimmy rig it back together, I decided that it'll hang tight till the swap. I Went to the track last night and back and I had no over heating problems what so ever. Temp.

Ok, Time to search for FIACV and IACV for the sake of knowledge!
