The car use to be A/T. There is obviously no longer a TCM unit but the connectors are just dangling there unconnected; do you think the coolant temp input (D5 on A/T Control connector) not sensing any voltage could be throwing the code 6?
Well if you are sure it's D5 on the TCM's connector what I would do is check D13 on the ECU's connector for continuity. Maybe it's the same wire just split between D5 (TCM) and D13 (ECU).
If it's not why not try running a wire from D5 on the TCM to D13 on the ECU and see what happens.
Maybe since you removed the TCM the ECU is no longer getting the input from the sensor. Maybe the TCM routes the signal from the sensor, threw the TCM, and out to the ECU.
I discovered the problem!!! Your images helped big time. I was looking at the wrong sensor (the one in front right after the hose from the radiator). Anyway, I looked behind there and found a connector with a broken piece in it and saw the rest left in the head. Anyway, got pliers and took out the piece from the connector and unscrewed the left overs from the head and installed the replacement "thermistor" that I picked up from AZ and voila!!! CEL gone!!! Props and gratitude man! Thanks again!!!
