    Fixed - High Pitched Squeal

Whenever my car has been sitting in the garage for a while, it squeals when I turn it on. The sound is very loud and very high pitched, and sounds like rubber on metal. I replaced the power steering and alternator belts 10K miles ago, and for good measure I tightened them to see if this would solve the problem. No dice.
Some of the other posts I've read have mentioned A/C fans and distributor caps, and I will check those out as soon as I see the car again tonight.
I need your help. All I know for sure is that the sound is confined to the right half of the engine bay, and it gets worse when I turn on the A/C. I want to be able to solve this problem at home, but I will take it to the Honda dealership if I have to. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Most likely the a/c belt. Its either too tight or loose.

I have tightened and loosened the belts at least three times, and have used a belt lubricant called Prestone. None of this seems to work! Keep thinking guys, your help is appreciated.

It could possibly be worn out cooling fan bearings. At times my car would screech like a scalded eagle! I could usually get it going by turning on the A/C, but the A/C didn't always have to be going for the screeching to start. The problem was very intermittent.

I will check that out right now. Are cooling fan bearings replaceable?

nope. Had to replace the fans. Cost $$$$. Although I am the only one that I know of that's happened to. Lucky me, eh??

also check that the belt is routed around all the pullies correctly, and that there is no pulley that is crooked..sometimes, they get bent, near the bracket, and can squeek. Did you replace both belts? It is best to replace both at once, since A) you are there, and it is not THAT expensive and B) you can't have a decent belt paired wit a great belt..it's like a 4wd car..you don't replace jsut 2 tires on it..y? cause when you accelerate, one set of wheels will get good traction, and the others won't..then buh-bye drive axles..in this situation, that squeeking could very well be the belt you didn't replace..they must wear evenly..together..

Both belts were replaced with high-quality parts approximately 6 months ago, and the car has only been driven about 8000 miles since then. The problem did not occur once before the first 4 months, and slowly got worse and worse.
Today, I noticed that the squeal was further agitated by left hand turns in my first 60 seconds of driving.
                  I'm stumped!

Could be your power steering pump! when it get's low on fluid it could suck in some air and cause a squeeling noise. So check that and let us know how it goes.

I've got plenty of power steering fluid; I just double checked.

try seeing if shutting off the a/c will stop it. In my case it did, but not always. That helped me pinpoint what was going on.

Mine shrieked so loud that people walking by in the street would stare as well as other peolple in cars next to me. It was fun to play it off.

Yes, this shriek is so loud that people look over in shock and end up giving me a sympathetic look. I'm still working on it

It's FIXED!!!!!!!!!! I took my car to the Honda dealer today to borrow a belt tension tool so I could check if the belts were tight enough. I couldn't get the tool past the power steering pulley, and I was about ready to give up. Then I walked into the bay and asked a technician for some help [my Honda dealer is so player]. This guy came out and told me he would tighten it for me to see if it helped, and that if it didn't he'd get me some Honda-brand belts for free [I was using Goodyear Gatorbacks]. I told him that I had spent hours tightening it with no success, but he wanted to try anyway. So he brings his Snap-On wrenches out and in 20 seconds has accomplished what took me 45 minutes. The car sat in the garage all night last night, and she absolutely purred this morning when I started her up; no screeches. Praise the Lord [and the Honda dealership guy]!!

I am buying a few Snap-On wrenches the next time I see 'em, and I'm for damn sure takin the Honda guy to lunch.
