    Adjusting My Timing

I read the threads on this, and no thread addresses the service hole. The Mitchell is really brief on how to do this procedure, so I'm at a loss.

I've got this alien head on my block, and the distributor from my old head. Basically I'm at sqaure one with the timimg. I popped that little rubber piece off the service hole on the block, and notice there's an aimer looking sight, and a white line of the flywheel. I figure you use the timing light on wire 1, and aim it into the service hole, and try to get that white line into the aimer sight. However, how do I use this to advance and retard timing? There are no degree measurement marks.

First time touching this stuff...so...go figure. FYI: F22 block.

I don't know about your set up with old distributor and new head but you simply loosen the bolts that mount the distr. a little so you can rotate the thing to advance or retard your timing. the light will hit when the 15 degree mark comes by which is correct timing for 90-92 i know for sure. with the different head, who knows.
