camber kit install problem. made wierd noise.

okay, so I followed the DYI for camber install and did everything right except my driver side, I have the steering whell straight but the driver side doesnt match up with the passenger, it turns just a little to the left so it has a pitchen toe effect. what did I do wrong? camber seems to be close enough for me to go to les shuab to get allignment and have my camber zero'd in. do I haave to loosen some of the nuts and kinda allign the controll arm or what? when I got done, I was backing up the caar and steered the wheel to the left it felt like the dropped very fast and made a thump noise and so I just left it at that for tomorrow. what do you think happened? thanks fellas. by the way I replaced the front cambers and I got the kit from ebay, lol

p.s. theres a long bolt attach to the kit wich goes to the top where the fuse box goes and theres a side way bolt that holts the arms inplace and theres a shorter bolt on the bottom, what does that shorter one do? is that the adjustment for it? it seems that the way mine adjust is it goes front to back not up and down. so if I put in the kit andhave the bolts loose and if I pull on the control arm towards me to its maximum. what will that do? will it make my tires upper portion come outwards or backward> right now my camber issue is negative so im getting bad tread wear on the inner side of the tire.

update! I now got my cambers done and now when I drive it it swings from side to side and has alot of play, I dont have powersteering so my when I steer the car its stiff but now its alot easier like if I was driving on ice. could it be because I havent gotten my cambers zero'd in and havent gotten an allignment?
