i was thinking about that, but then dont you have to buy a plate and remove everything? and buy a plate to block everything off? Like this?

Im not gonna change that belt. if it breaks it breaks, o well. Im pretty sure it wont fuck anything up. Plus like mentioned this is my DD so i want as much comfort as i can with out AC/PS/CC. A vibrationless car would be nice.

You're not removing the balance shafts, just the belt.

I didn't feel any extra vibrations from when I took mine off.

ok, so i finally got the stuff i needed from Majestic Honda, and i installed it tonight. This is after one full crank turn, and i beleive it would be piston #3 at TDC. Can you guys verify if i did it correctly? I put the belt on and then moved it like 5-6 teeth, and then tightened the Adjusting bolt to 49 lb-ft, like the Honda manual said(this was for a auto h22 tensioner so i think i coul dbe wrong here). All the belts seem tight, so i do beleive i did this correctly . Thanks Guys

              #4 should be TDC.

Firing order goes 1-3-4-2, where as TDC for #3 would mean the spoke that says "up" on the cam gear would be at 9 'o clock.

oo ok, but other than my mistake of thinking that it was TDC at piston 3, is everything else right?

turn the crank over one more time so the crank gear mark is lined up, and so both cam gears are pointing up. those 3 are the MOST IMPORTANT ONES... if the horizontal marks on the gears all line up with the edge of the head and the crank is dead center, then your timing is good.

from the picture it appears your front (left) balance shaft is off... theres a notch in the top of the shaft that should line up with the mark on the side of the engine... and its impossible to tell about the rear shaft, did you lock it through the hole in the back?

no, i didnt use a thing to hold the balance shaft. Unless it was the bolt kinda thing that you had to stick something in it, instead of around.

SO i just went out, i adjusted the balance, retightened, and spun the Cams to full turns..

now that i look at it in the pics, the crank seems less than 1/2 tooth off, but the belt is pretty tight .

usually less than 1/2 a tooth is just a matter of not twisting enough, not a problem with the belt. im guessing you lined it up based on the cam gears? the horizontal marks arent 100% accurate... try lining the crank up straight and see how closely the cams line up. probably insignificantly.

front balance shaft looks much better now.

for the rear balance shaft, theres a 12mm bolt right around the corner on the back of the block. take it out and it gives access to lock the rear shaft, which has a hole drilled straight through it. use a long phillips head screwdriver until it falls all the way into place and the shaft gets locked from turning. youll be able to feel it.

ok, so you i moved the crank to exact TDC, and there was barley any difference in the cams, if any at all.

I found that 12 mm bolt unscrewed it, looked into it, and then tightened it. Everything looks good. I finally know where all the marks are, and they are all lined up, like they are supposed to.

Thanks soo much you guys. Without you'll i would be sitting, looking at my motor

lol, the holes isn't there to look at. You're supposed to put a screwdriver in there to hold the rear balance shaft in place. That's the correct position when at TDC.

I know your not supposed to look at it, lol. You supposed to but a extension or screwdriver or something in there to lock in that position. I didnt, bc i found it after everythng was all lined up. But next time Ill know.

the only way to tell if the rear shaft is lined up is by inserting a screwdriver... you cant go by the marks on the gear, unless you paid attention to how it was before you took the old one off...

the balance shafts out of alignment will only cause vibrations.

I would have just left the belt off.
