This seems to be a fairly common problem since I've never encountered a cb7 with a working cruise control.... Mine isn't working and I know it's not any of the fuses so what could possibly be wrong with it? Any suggestions on what it is and how hard it is to fix would be appreciated.

Mine has never worked either but I never really researched it to pin point the problem. Originally the switches on my clutch pedal where bad and I thought that was it but after I fixed that it still never worked.
I wonder if it could work with my H22 swap? Maybe it is a vacum issue. I wish there was a way to troubleshoot it without having to drive over 30mph.

My steering wheel was turned 180 deg, so the place where the cruise button's would go are on the left side instead of the right side. ---> My cruise button's are on the right. And yes, i do have airbags. i'll try not to make that mistake that you did.Originally posted by fizzbob7
it looks like it's mostly there from those pics, but hard to tell...the gas pedal bracket looks the same, but it's only a notch for the cruise control cabel to slide in....i'm sure the firewall hole is there too.....and the place for it to slide in behind the face of the steering wheel is on my passenger side of the steering wheel.....and cokinut....do you have an airbag or anything.....mine doesn't, but i didn't know if you did or if any of them did...if you do, then don't go ripping the wheel apart.....one accidentally deployed on me one day and it felt like getting the fuck knocked out of your face.....left damn burn marks too.....not pretty....

Re: Re: Cruise Control
Interesting note, I had the timing belt, water pump, major tune-up and afterwards the CC wouldn't work. Light would engage, but wouldn't hold a speed. Took it back to the shop and they said that a solenoid was faulty. In looking in the bay last night with the engine running, I saw that a rubber diaphragm, with a little lip wasn't actually inserted into (what I believe is the) CC unit. It's located at the front right of the engine bay, when standing at the front of the car. Looks like a collapsible boot (for example the one around a CV axle, but much smaller. Could it be that reinserting that lip into the CC unit would fix the CC?Originally posted by fizzbob7
the buttons to turn it on, the unit itself, the ecm that controls it....mine worked, but after the swap, i just got rid of it...sitting here on my porch.....i've never had a problem with it though...most of the time, the diaphragm that holds the vacuum goes bad and just won't let it hold the throttle position
That would rock!

My cruise light will not engage or maintain speed. So I don't know what it could be. The easiest thing I guess would be to test the cruise clutch switch first but if that wirks anyone know what else it could be?
If I can atleast get the light to engage then I'll be in good shape because troubleshooting the solonoid unit isn't as difficult.
