auto tranny question/trouble help!

okay, now for some odd reason something is messed up in my transmission (260k miles) anyways i was sitting at my friends house yesterday and i went home at 5:00 last night. anyways for some reason my transmission gears would only shift into fourth gear unless i took it down manually into the 2nd gear click. anyways i was driving it for about 2 miles and then it went from the tranny only turning the 4th and 2nd gear to it switching to only turning the 1st and 3rd gear working. the way i found this out is because i thought something was just stuck because it was only going in 2 gears at a time. so anyways i stop in the middle of the road and then i cycle threw the gear clicks starting with 1st gear and then thats when i found out the 1st and 3rd were only working. well anyways i parked it last night and came out for school the next morning and all the gears shifted correctly. now heres some other problems. ok i have no vss so the check engine light comes on and the sports light starts flashing, i trouble shot the engine check codes and it said it was because of my vss. well when my tranny messed up, the engine light never showed up and my sports light stayed at a solid green. well this happened once before and when it was still messed up the next morning (about 3 weeks ago) the sport light stayed on even before start up and would not change if i clicked it to normal mode. i need help on how to fix my tranny and what could be the cause of it mis behaving as it was. please help any info would be greatly appreciated. addict_cb7

I would defenately get the vss fixed that tells your car when to shift could also be the shift solenoids or the tcu could be on its way out.

I think one of the solenoids is dead.

replace it and your tranny will work just fine

At least it worked for me.
