driving then all of a sudden the rpm drops and car stallS and dies. or the mil comes on with a code of a bad igniter.
The beginning of a new era............................
165 hp 149 ft. lb. torque sohc non vtec. then....
184 whp and 149 ft. lb. torque f20b stock now......
would a bad one cause long cranking??? I have a brand new battery in the car ( Enegizer) , and my previous did the same.. tempature not a factor. new Alterator.
I have been down this road...what happens is that your gauges go haywire and the car boggs then shuts completely off..
At that point the car wont start until you let the motor cool for a while..It is wise to change the spark plugs and wires, ok check the ignition module as well.
yep your guages will shoot to 8k plus randomly and you can experience misfire before 4k

no my problem isnt that.. its more it seem si have to purge the system first.. ie.. turn key to on wait a second.. off then crank the car.. if not it would take 5-10 seconds of cranking befor she would start..
pretty much everything on the car has been changed.

just another "honda" quirk?
Not really. My CB7 always starts first revolution of the crank, without fail (tempting fate there a bit I suspect!).
Maybe you could provide a list of things you have already addressed / replaced on your engine, might save people guessing at things that have already been seen to?
I'd put my money on the ignitor. When they go bad they can either die completely and forever (no spark), or die intermittently. Often when it cools down a bit it'll work again, maybe for a few days or maybe 10 minutes. Sometimes after ceasing to work it will work again in a minute or so, or an hour, or tomorrow sometime. It will only get worse. Assuming that the ignitor is actually your problem...
i dont think its the timing.. since its always has done this since ivve owned the car.. and when i got my timing/balancer belt changed my mechanic checked it.
I guess it never hurts to just replace the ignitor..
