I haven't really heard anything wrong with it. when the missfireing first started today it kinda sounded like a large flame lighting up on a stove.

found something over at H-H that looks like the same problem I'm having (though less severe):
              http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=721914
I'm really hopeing it's just the wires. Going to try to get those and a cap & rotor.

Sounds like it might be either preignition or detonation.

Does it run fine until the car gets hot, and then it starts to do this? or does it do it all the time?

If its doin it once the car gets hot, it might be the EGR being stuck open (dumping tons of hot exhaust into the intake all the time), or it might be "dieseling" (double firing..not the technical term..haha).. But this could prolly be caused by the same thing.

Theres some things we can all do on our own, but at some point, the car has to go see a mechanic to get fixed. Good luck to ya, and let us know what the problem was.

                  UPDATE:

I went to honda today and got a brand new cap & rotor.
Wow! I really did need that stuff.
No missfires since I put it in. I ran the car hard today too with no ill effects
I also got a new set of spark plug wires, however those are on backorder. So I'll have to wait untill monday when they are supposed to come in.

It ran fine untill it got hot 40 or so minutes later (this was yesterday... today it ran perfect!). I'll have to check into the price of the EGR valve tomarrow. those whould be pretty cheap
If I take the EGR out it should rattle when I shake it correct?

*EDIT* oops I thought the EGR valve was the PCV

I think your thinking about the PCV Valve (located on the top of the engine, connecting the valve cover to the intake plenum). And yes, that should rattle when you shake it while its out. However, Im trying to load up a picture of an engine bay with the EGR highlighted. Ill get that up on the site by tmw afternoon.

As far as replacing it, I think its just a few bolts to remove and then put the new one on. Not sure though? Anyone else replaced their EGR before?

It was $61 for the plug wires. I went a extra step and got a coil wire for $18.90.
I looked at pep boys before I went to the dealer for NGK wires and they didn't have them at all. so I just said heck on it and went right to the dealer.

I'm looking into getting a new cap, rotor, and wires myself. I might grab an MSD Blaster SS coil while I'm at it. They aren't that expensive, and I believe it will be useful.

I have the JDM H22, so I need to play with the cap a little... A B16 cap will work for my engine, I hear. Stupid JDM engine
