WTF is wrong with my car

So, I've had problems lately that I need to get rid of before I end up breaking the damn car in frustration. it has an h22 BTW

-Got a CEL for EGR valve and it will NOT go away no matter what I do to the damn egr. I've put in 2 different ones. I don't know what I'm doing wrong here. Any help GREATLY appreciated.

-Idle sucks when car driven in cold weather. Once I put it in neautral I get a constant rev up and down. Warm weather doesn't affect it as much but it still happens occasionally.

-Idle goes extremely low to the point where the car will almost turn off when I turn on anything electrical in the car ie. locks, headlights, defroster...
The ceiling light doesn't even turn on anymore until after a few seconds of having the engine on. Sometimes at a stop, the car will bog down until it almost dies.

Lemme know any advice. I'm at wits end with these issues as they are annoying as hell.

    ...adjust accordingly

I think your FIV took a crap on you, for that idle issue. Have you tried replacing that? As for the EGR, idk since i've got a F22 and am not positive if those two are the same

Have you checked the battery and alternator?

FITV or IACV? Maybe in conjunction with the base idle being set too low?

For the CEL problem you should have reset the ecu after you replaced the EGR valve to clear the CEL from its memory. Just pull the 7.5amp back up fuse under the hood. Your idling problem is most likely the idle air control valve. pull it off, take it apart and clean it. Also sounds like your fast idle control valve is bad. Its suppose to set the idle high during cold starts and if your rpms are surging then its not doing it job properly.

              He probably did that.

I say, get a chipped ecu so you don't have to worry about EGR anymore.

My idle is funny in the cold too. I can't figure it out.

have you tried cleaning the intake and egr ports? wynns makes an excellent intake cleaner you cn do with the egr on or off. it's a pressurized cleaning. or take the manifold off and clean it the right way.

Check if the vacuum hose from the egr lift valve is going to the egr control solenoid in the blackbox. I am saying this because I got the vacuum lines mixed after my f22b swap and couldn't get rid of the egr cel until I rerouted the lines. Luckily I noticed this before buying a new egr valve.

Wild guess at the EGR problem:

The VSS plug and the EGR plug look the same. Swap 'em, reset the ecu, and give it a try.

                    Worth a shot, anyways.

Well the battery is a redtop and its fairly new. I replaced the alternator brushes a month ago. Wondering if the whole alternator is just bad. The car starts up every time so the cranking amps are definately there.

Might be a culprit since I had to mess with the idle screw and the iacv might be bad or the fitv therefore messing up my base idle.

I reset the ecu with almost any change.

Wish I could do that but I need to pass smog here in cali

Cleaned out egr ports and whole intake during install

I'm gonna try to trouble shoot it this weekend. I swear this problem has been bugging me for a while now and everytime I troubleshoot it I only temporarily fix it.

                      Thanks for the feedback everyone.

sanchez i had the same problem as well. check your plunger on the intake manifold, it could be loose. give me a call tonight i can probably fix it for you. craig knows what it is as well, he can describe it better then me. i just know how to fix it and i can show you.

theres a plate on the back of the throttle body held by 2 screws, you unscrew that to remove the plate. your gonna see this ball looking thing where it has an indentation where it looks like you can put a wide flat head screw driver through. if you turn it to the right it should be tighter. if its lose itll have play and when it has play that means you have a vacuume leak.

it revs up and down like you have some retarded cams right? if so what i told you should fix your problem.

check your main engine harness ground. make sure its grounded good it can factor into why your shit starts dimming or electrical going hay-wire. or it can probably be loose, or installed incorrectly.

check the TPS (throttle position sensor). Exact symptoms mine had.

i had the same problem, me and cisco spent bout an hour on the phone. First check your tps make sure it reads .4 when closed then we ended up blocking the boost thing lol on the intake manifold the part that goes from your intake to the intake mani. And we also ajusted the screw and that solved my problem. Cause it was constantly idleing at about 2500 then it would start to bounce between 1000 and 2500. And it was usually during cold weather. Now the car runs fine in any weather. Sorry its kinda broad but i am sure jed knows what i am refering too. I can take pics if needed.
