What can be done to the head to improve its emission/mileage state? IS keeping it stock the only option? Can a CAM improve gas mileage any ?

you can make the engine run a little bit more efficiently if that counts?
-port match
-take off the rough casting, polish the exhaust side and a semi-polish on the intake side. do not take more material than you have to out!
-a killer fucking valve job, continous radius and a ssmaller contact seat width
-backcut the valves
-deburr the area around the sparkplug hole
with a cam = awesome tuning. you can also tune a stock motor.

I understand the concepts behind a port match and adding faster flow on the exhaust side. Helping keep constant flow on the intake. But Im curious on the valve job and similar terms you used and what they do.Originally posted by wed3kyou can make the engine run a little bit more efficiently if that counts?

Continuous radius
Smaller contact seat width
Back cut valves
Deburr sparkplug area
Ive only heard of things like quench hot spots valve angles and i think thats it,

i never said anything about flow though. on a stock setup, you dont really want to increase all that much flow like a port job.
stock honda exhaust ports are fucking fabulous from the factory which is why a good header is so ideal and CAN make hp.
as for the valve job stuff, it all just falls udner a competition/race valve job. it will improve a little bit of airflow but the smaller seat will not last as long as a stocker would.
